Why we need AMFA in our community

Assalaamu Alaikum and Peace!

To truly be a Muslim we cannot live in isolation.  We need to build and sustain a community, and that community must create a spiritually uplifting environment where its members can feel connected to their faith.  That community must also afford us the opportunity and ability to integrate seamlessly with our broader American community.

The American Muslim Family Association (AMFA) fills a void that has long existed in the northwest suburbs for American Muslims who - be they immigrants, converts or second and third generation American Muslim - feel a deep connect to and an abiding love for America.  AMFA is a community organization that brings together American Muslims who seek a community that is grateful for the gift of Islam and for the bounties and freedoms of America.

What we do

Through a variety of activities including religious education in a non-threatening and non-judgmental environment, public service to the broader community (to benefit people of all faiths), and social activities in spiritually uplifting Muslim settings, AMFA creates a community of American Muslims that supplements (but does not supplant) that which is provided by the bricks and mortar Islamic institutions of our community.

Who we are

AMFA is a grassroots community organization founded by a group of American Muslim families.  Some of us were born here, others came here as children and still others are recent immigrants.  What binds us together is faith (Islam), our home (America) and our commitment to live an spiritual life of service, charity and spirituality.
